hi at the moment im cosidering applying for a skilled visa, ive already started the vetassess process and im just waiting for a date and location for the practical, anyway my girlfriends Australian and ive been with her for 8 months but we havent really been living together although we are serious about each other, does any1 think i'd have a chance with the de-facto visa?

I would say you would be declined on the defacto- you really have to prove you have been living together at least 12 months- shared bills rent etc. Thats just my experience could be ways around it that i dont know of- Ive applied for defacto waiting for decision now.Had to provide lots of evidence to back it up.Best of Luck

My partner & I have applied de facto for our visa. We've been together for 10 years but they are only interested in you proving that you have been togther for a minimum of 12 months. We only needed 1 example of evidence to prove we lived together for a year - we used our rent/tenancy agreement for the last year, that was enough.

You need 12 months cohabitation for a spouse visa on defacto grounds. But if you are eligible for permanent residence as a skilled migrant, that is normally a better option anyway.
