Congrats to ASCO 2231-79 specialization holders, Victoria today announced its smp eligibility list and most of 2231-79 occupations including oracle, java, network security are there, in the eligibility list they says: -

261399 Software & Applications
Programmers NEC

Minimum of two years experience. Prefered specialisations in at least
one of the following:
• CISSP • Oracle • SAP • C++/C#/C
• Java • J2EE • SIEBEL • Oracle (E-Business Suite)
• GIS • Network security/firewall internet security

can one apply using ASCO code 2231-79 for victorian state sponsorship? or one has to get assessed new ANZSCO code then would be eligible for applying victorian sponsorship?

Hi, I got assessment from ACS for 263111 (Computer Network and Systems Engineer) and now the occupation is not in the VIC SS eligibility list, Can somebody suggest whether I can apply without showing my ACS result for SS? will that workout when I apply for 176 with oz gov? it there anything like my ACS result and SS result should contain same code??

Also, Is it mandatory to show my IELTS results when apply for SS?

IT was great to hear from vic that they are accepting network security but where i can apply for application i can see that there is only one link and that is only business application can any one guide me.

Hi Sankar, it is mandatory that you should have your code in the eligibility list published by VIC or any state for that matter.

Did you request for 263111 to ACS? You can probably apply for a new assessment requesting for a code in SOL 3 if you think you have an occupation on the SOL that might suit you.

I dont remember sending IELTS results.. i dont think its required..

Dear Experts/Sr. Members,

My Skill was assessed under 2231-79 (Network Security Specialist) in 29-Apr-2010. Still I have the ACS paper and I was planning recently to apply for new assessment under 261111 (ICT Business Analyst).

Now, please suggest me, will it be ok to show 2231-79 ACS letter along with other docs for getting Victora State Sponsorship or I have to go for new assessment as per victoria's given ANZSCO Code (such as 261111) and after that, to apply for VIC state Sponsorship with new ACS letter.

I will be grateful to you for your valuable suggestion.

You can use the same letter to apply for VIC again, as the corresponding ANZSCO code(261399) for 2231-79 is in the eligibility list. But I am not sure how good are the chances of success as you have been rejected already, nothing wrong in giving one more try. In the meanwhile, you can also prepare the new assessment and apply for it so that you have options even if you are rejected by VIC again

But one thing, as my job responsibilites related to Network and System Security and Administration, then how can it be match with corresponding ANZSCO Code - 261399(Software and Application Programmers NEC)?

One more thing, my job responsibilites also matches with the ICT Business Analyst (261111) skill areas in relation with Network and Systems Security and Administration.

What do you suggest, shall I go for new ACS assessment under ICT Business Analyst and after that to apply VIC SS with the new ACS letter ?

Please give your opinion.
