Hey Ebanster,

Could you be more specific with your plan of action ? you could PM me if want.

What I am interested in is .. "The case officer asks for a new ACS letter...". As I understand, case officers aren't assigned immediately so can you launch a 176 application with the OLD ACS and upload the new ACS later? (when it becomes available). All before a CO is assigned.

We need some expert opinion on this matter.

you can do that if you are sure to get your new letter in 28 days. The current probability for a CO to be assigned in 28 days and even before that is quite high when you are doing a 176 application. In my case, I got a case officer in 2 weeks, I was still to upload a few more documents thinking i have 28 days but I had uploaded all the important ones - passport, ACS, IELTS etc.

I don't think if you apply on-line with abc code and later upload xyz code, even within 28 days.

experienced what? it should be the same code ofcourse.. here in case of ebanster, if im not wrong, he has his assessment in ASCO code 2231-79 which has expired. This is mapped to ANZSCO 261399(Software and Applications Programmers nec). He can apply for the same code 261399 from ACS, and lodge 176 with the same code since VIC sponsorship for him has also been granted on the basis of the same code.

I think I read it at BE sometime ago about someone who applied with a code other than the one they were awarded sponsorship with. Need confirmation though..

In the approval email I got from VIC, they mentioned the following text:

4. Victorian Government sponsorship is valid only if the occupation indicated on the visa application matches the Victorian state sponsored occupation.

yes this is correct. as i mentioned before, as long as it is directly mapped. I have asked ACS officers regarding this several times before.
The best way to clarify things is to call them. The ones in the websites are the best-case/normal-case scenarios. For cases like mine or some of us here, it is not clearly stated in the sites.

I don't think 28 days is enough for a new ACS code. It takes them months nowadays. I took the risk of submitting my expired ACS (considering only 2 days apart from my SS approval). Once a case officer is assigned and they specifically ask me to submit a new ACS letter (where the ANZSCO code should be directly mapped to my old ASCO code), then that would be the only time I would be doing so.
Fingers crossed, they would not need to ask me for this and consider my old ACS letter.

Brave move mate !. I will do the same. Actually I don't mind spending 400 for another ACS, its just that I now wanted 261112 instead of 261399. But as I have applied for sponsorship with 2231-79, so I will have to go with 261399. (which is a useless code!).

I have applied for ACS new ANZSCO code which i got the SS from victoria as well i have lodged one iquiry at immi site which is as below , lets see what they reply for the following query.

Sir , i recently got victorian sponsorship for ANZSCO Code: 261312,i have old ACS ASCO code 2231-79 (Oracle Specialist) which has now been expired , i am going to apply for ACS ,i am afraid that ACS may be linger on due to huge number of applicant in queue.Within couple of days i am applying for ACS, i hope ACS letter will come sooner before the expiration of Victorian SMP.I do not want to be the effective of new policy which would be implemented from 1st Jul 2011.

While i am processing my ACS recognition,if by means ACS linger on and time for victorian sponsorship under the agreement for 4 months would expire then my dream for landing in victoria would be shattered, may i submit with old expired ASCO code 2231-79 (Oracle Specialist) for visa Skilled - Sponsored (176)?

Mate,
Have you submitted your ACS application yet? If not then go for it asap. Also don't forget to mention them about your case in the cover letter. This may speed up your case processing.

Secondly the new point system is likely to implement from July(not completely sure) so I think you still have more then 3 months.

dear Umair i have applied yesterday using online payment with credit card.Same i have sent my documents via courier yesterday , problem is that my ex - company boss just agreed to sign on my experience stamp paper , they just agreed to issue me HR reference letter not detailed experience letter , but my x-boss agreed to sign on my stamp paper where my experience jotted in detail.

How will my visa application be affected?

For all new applications lodged on or after 1 July 2010, the department will use ANZSCO codes and occupation information instead of ASCO in its systems and records. You will need to nominate your occupation in ANZSCO from 1 July 2010.

From above faq i infer that i could apply on the basis of ASCO code 2231-79 (Oracle Specialist).
