Vic SS - refused today after 5 months of waiting

I had applied for Vic SS approval on Sep 8th, after 5 months and 3 days, today I received a refusal email.

Following a review of the information you have provided to the Skilled and Business Migration Program, we regret to inform you that the Victorian Government is not in a position to sponsor your client under the Skilled – Sponsored scheme.
We consult with industry to determine which occupations are currently "in demand" in Victoria, and seek advice to determine whether individual applicants would be "employable" or not for the current Victorian labour market. We do this because we need to ensure our sponsored migrants have the skills and specialisations on our Skilled – Sponsored Eligibility List which are in shortage in the current market, and to ensure that skilled migrants have a realistic chance of employment when they arrive in Victoria.
In this case, our advice indicated that your client’s skills and experience did not match the current industry requirements. This decision was based on an evaluation of your client’s qualifications and years of work experience, taking into account the current needs within Victoria’s regions and industries.
Note that we would be happy to reassess your client’s application should they be able to obtain a valid offer of employment in their nominated occupation within Victoria, and your client’s occupation remains eligible for sponsorship.
Please quote Reference Number : SS-XXXX-XXXXX in all of your communication to us

Now I am back to square. I have not applied for 175 GSM visa also. I am a Java/J2EE specialist.

Could any one of you guide me if I can apply for South Australia (Adelaide) or Western Australia (Perth). I mean if the job requirements are there or not?

Hi Santosh,
sorry to hear that your VIC SS got rejected. You certainly can apply with WA or SA. I don't think they have the employment offer pre-clause (yet).

you may want to still go ahead and apply your 175 meanwhile. your skills are certainly on the CSL (last i checked few months ago), so.. i'd say go ahead and lodge the application and you'll never know what change would come up next.

Good Luck!

Hi Santosh
We also applied in Sep for .Net and got the same refusal letter today!
Bad luck to us both!

You should definitely apply for 175 as the processing times are speeding up. We got our case officer for our 175 this month after a 4 month wait and I heard that they were trying to get the wait down to 10 days by the end of Q1 2010, so I am sure you will be processed quite quickly.
Did you already send in your 176 application or were you waiting for SS?
If you did send in your 176 hopefully you can just change it to 175 so that you dont have to pay another fee.

Let us know how you get on and good luck!
Lynette

Re: Vic SS - refused today after 5 months of waiting

Its really sad to hear that santosh, but i would like to suggest you something where you went wrong, you should have applied for 175 visa as you are on CSL and then applied for state sponsarship.. If you would have been provided state sponsarship, you could have easily switched over to 176(state sponsarship visa).

By the current timelines if you would have applied in September 09 itself you would have got CO atleast by now. Now with new rules in place after Feb 8th , there are no points for MODL, not sure if this has affected your case for 175 Visa.
What ever step you take next, all the best to you mate...
