Default verifying true relationship - spouse visa

A quick question... We are about to submit our spouse visa application.
When going through the check list of what we have to supply, we realise that
the letters from family/friends verifying our relationship are simply that -
letters, not stat decs as requested. Will this pose a problem? Will we
have to ask our family/friends to re-do these and if so, how do they do
this?

Many thanks,
Margot.

Do you have any form 888s completed? (not sure if they have a different name for offshore applications, not sure if that's what you're doing either).

I think they require 2 stat decs (or form 888s), signed by JP or similar, with certified copy of passport of author.

You may need to get these before you apply. Jay (regular forum visitor) should be able to verify this, or have a look at the family migration booklet.

Take a look at the recent post titled 'Cert Copies and Stat Decl' for details on how to go about it.

If anyone else can help with my post, I'd appreciate it. The other post on
Cert Copies doesn't answer my questions.

What I'd like to know is whether they will reject the letters from my family
and friends and make them re-do them as stat decs.

Also, is a stat dec a particular form that is filled in? Or simply someone
(eg JP, solicitor) signing any document to say it's true etc.

Thanks,
Margot.

Hi Margot.

I dont have a definite answer for you, but here goes

I would certainly get them to do them again but in stat dec format. It will
be much easier and faster to do that than having to go through the extra
time and hassle if they pull you up on the letters you are going to submit.

Where are you located?. If in Australia, you can use this generic stat dec
form.

http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/statdec.htm

Hope that helps in some way

Rod.

Of course they wont reject any thing that you will put in front of them Put both letters and 888's in front of them The more the better We had 20 kgs of paper to show them if they wanted to have a look Attach a note to that effect if you have to Regards Gerard
