USA - which police report ?
Hi,
This seems to be a recurring theme, but I couldn't really find a
definite answer. For those of us who are not American but have lived
for a while in the USA and, so, need to get an American police report...
which report is the right one to get ? Should I seek a report from the
local police department, from the county sheriff's office, from the
state DOJ or from the FBI ? Or some combination of those ? Or all of
the above ?
Any help from someone who's been in the same position will be most
welcome.
Thanks,
-Wilson

I'm a German living in the US. I plan to get a local and an FBI one. Hope
that's enough.

Yes... You may get FBI Check for USD18 and from all states where you have lived for more than a year (if that state issues a police clearance).

Good point engin77. Not all states issue a police clearance letter. best option is to get the FBI report, costs you $18.

Re: USA - which police report ?
hi,
Got a question r/ fingerprinting. hope you can help me
out.
As you directed, i spoke to a person from the contact
list and i was told that, they would only do 'live
scan' provided i should have some kind of form from
concerned authority which means DIMIA.
If you can let me what you did that would be great.
thanks,
Stan
p.s. i wanted to ask you this offline, but unfortunately emails keeping
bounching :-(

I turned in a copy of the first page of form 47P obtainaible from www.immi.gov.au and a cover letter explaining the situation and that was all. If you are frontloading the application or haven't got the request for police check, this is what you shoud do. If you have got a request for police check from your case officer at DIMIA, a copy of the request letter will be fine. Please send me a private e-mail for more information. If it gets reflected, I can contact you first.
