Re: Update - Info for second stage spouse visa applicants
Matlissa, I was on the 6-8 months list too... DIMAC didn't even send out the documents to me when I was eligible, I had to call and ask for them. I am sure you will get the PR letter in just a few weeks as their time estimates are worse case scenarios. Hang in there, good news will come soon!
I know DIAC give just general dates just in case, but I cant help feeling a bit deflated and that the grant date is so far away! Hopefully I will at least have a CO by the end of next week
Sigh! Well at least I have called and know whats happening now! I know it will all work out in the end! Positive thoughts! Deep breaths! hehe!
SillyOldBag - have you sent your docs in yet?
AsadsBride - Any news yet?

Re: Update - Info for second stage spouse visa applicants
Hey Mel
I've not sent our documents in yet. I'm just waiting on the police check on my husband. Mine came back over a week ago, but his hasn't appeared - I'll give it til the beginning of next week and then chase it up but regardless of it arriving I really need to send the rest of the stuff off next week, I'll just have to stick a note in saying it will follow shortly! There is still a month to go til we are eligible for grant of 2nd stage anyway.
Fingers crossed you hear back soon - it's horrible when you're sitting around waiting to hear from them, getting hopeful every time you check the mail ! But if asadsbride can wait all that time so patiently for the temp visa, I'm sure I can sit tight for a few weeks .... well I'm not sure I can, but I bloomin' well ought to be able!
Anyways, I'm keeping an eye out for your "yayyyy!" post

Re: Update - Info for second stage spouse visa applicants
I love this site everyone has been so helpful and thank you guys
Just another question tho....The banks have told my wife and I that we cant get a joint mortgage because of my 2 year Temp Visa 309??? so i then have to wait untill my permanent visa comes thro...in that case, we will be staying with my wife's parents for this length of time but...we then have no joint bills, mortagage papers to use as evidence of us still being together. Catch 22 if yer ask me, so....any other suggestions for evidence? I just want to be prepared for next year
Thanks guys

When did you originally apply for the visa?
I really hope you hear back soon! I have my for you!
My partner called DIAC today to see whats going on, and he was advised that they are STILL processing the 7th Oct!!!!!! There must have been a lot of people who applied on the 7th!! Maybe thats just a general date they are giving like the standard response?!
Apparently I should be granted my visa in the next 2-3 weeks when I get a CO - they explained that, the CO will see if I need to provide extra evidence, and if not, I will get the visa straightaway and they will send a letter out. Much better than the 3-4 months I was initially advised of! They said it could be sooner than 2-3 weeks, depending on how quickly the get through the backlog! Hopefully thats a bit of good news for you AsadsBride!!
SillyOldBag - have you received the police check back yet? Sent the docs in?

Re: Update - Info for second stage spouse visa applicants
This is the bit I really don't like which is waiting, but I'm just going to put it out of my mind, they can't grant it before end November anyway, so there is no point me sitting next to the postbox with my laptop checking my inbox ... well not yet anyway! I'm hoping getting PR will be my Christmas present, but it will take as long as it takes!
I'll be keeping an eye on this thread and hope to see a few "Yayyy, I got it!" posts soon

Wow AsadsBride, I didn't realise that you had been waiting that long!
it comes through soon for you!
Have you given them a call recently to see whats going on?
Hi SillyOldBag, I am glad that you have everything sent in now!! Yep, I agree that it really felt odd not handing much in this time!
Hehe I think we all get to that stage at some point!! I am out of the checking emails a lot stage thankfully - think I have come to the realisation that I will hear back about the visa at some stage and keep thinking about it will just be a nightmare.
Yes that would be a lovely Christmas present for you! Heres hoping!
I am also hoping to see some more happy updates soon!

Re: Update - Info for second stage spouse visa applicants
Congrats Mel, we are very happy for you.
I called department couple of times and they always advise that it may take 6 to 8 months. One person said this may take upto 9 months coz of backlog..
I guess there's no point of me calling them and checking as they will do what they have to and contact us whenever required. I guess we only have to be patient and wait for our turn..
Also while talking on the phone, I gathered that the 2nd stage spouse visa is not of really priority for them, as its just the evaluation of the continues relationship...
Anyways I am praying we get through this side of the year and get it a Christmas gift...ameen
