TSS/482 to PR
Hi
Just reading about the new work visa that's replacing the 457. I note that for the medium term stream it allows application for permanent residence after three years.
Is the three years the time required for eligibility to be nominated for PR by your employer or is it for all PR visa applications? ie if one was to be awarded a 482 and working onshore (if eligible) could you apply for an independent onshore PR visa at any time while on the 482, or only after the 3 years have passed?

If you do not meet the criteria for one of the others, but will do during the first 3 years, then the same applies - lodge the EOI once you meet the criteria.

IT is very important if you go to on Australia on a temporary visa, you do so understanding that you are only going temporary and make no further assumption that you will get PR. There are many things that can prevent you obtaining a PR visa down the line such as the occupation being removed.
