Lightbulb Tricky question about visa 190/189

Hi all

I'm writing this postas I can not find any information on this topic in internet.

Is it possible to apply for visa 189 when I have granted 190 ?

My visa will expire in 5 months but I need 8 months of skilled work eperience to be able to apply for visa 189 ( currently I have 55 points). So I think to apply for state nomination then move to this certain state and go couple months of work experience then apply for visa 189 and back to QLD.

Is looks silly but I need to stay in QLD and I can get state nomination only to NSW,SA,ACT,NT,WA where I can't stay for 2 years.

Thank you very much for all answers !!

If you meet all the requirements, yes you can apply for it.

Thank you Pollyana for your answer.

Are you sure there is no any restrictions as you need to agree that first two years of visa you will stay in certain state.
So once I'm on 190 visa , I can apply for 189 even if I make agreement with this certain state ?

If you qualify for a visa then you can apply for the visa. It's not a trick.

You can apply for any visas you want to. Nobody is going to stop you making applications and paying over large sums of money to immigration after all.

However if you are already living in Australia, it is very unlikely that any state other than the one you are currently living in is going to sponsor you for a 190 visa.

Yes. States sponsor people who show a commitment to live and work in the state. Not people who already live in a different state.

See my above post! You will be automatically refused sponsorship from a number of states for the reason I mentioned.

I am applying for state nomination with South Australia. On their website it says, "If you are in Australia but not residing in South Australia, you are ineligible to apply for South Australian state nomination."
