would like to pose a question to all about the possibility of tri-nationaties.

Is it possible for someone to keep his own nationality and be a PR in another commonwealth
country by marriage before applying to be a PR in OZ / NZ ?

Question asked as one of my relatives is marrying and will have dual natioanlity. But the
couple wants to move to NZ/OZ after that.

My kids and hubby are tri-nationals. It's definitely possible, it depends on which
countries, and how citizenship was acquired. Each country has it's own rules.

Australia allows you to keep *any* former citizenships if you become a citizen. If you
were a dual national, and you later became an Australian citizen, you would retain the
citizenships of your former countries (as far as Australia is concerned).

You would also need to check with the countries of the previous 2 citizenships, as some
countries require you to give up your old citizenship if you choose to become a citizen of
another country.

Do I understand this correctly? - Have citizenship A, marriage gives (PR or Citizenship B)
Which one? PR or Citizenship?
