Default Travel insurance

Hi guys, i'm going to Australia on a years working visa holiday and to
visit my girlfriend there too, i was looking at travel insurance
online but my girlfriend says that i wont need it for the year as i
would be covered for healthcare etc while i'm there. i'm quite
sceptical about this and was really looking for advice from someone
who's done a similar thing to confirm if thats correct or not. it
would be good if its true! : )

Thanks,
Paul

As a UK citizen (I'm assuming), you will be covered by Medicare (Australia's equivalent to the NHS) under a reciprical agreement. See this link for more information: http://www.hic.gov.au/yourhealth/ser...alta_italy.htm
