Default Transitional arrangements: No 5 points for 1 year qualification ?

Hi,

I just wonder whether those students who apply as "OnShore students"
before 1st-Apr-2004 with one year qualifications get "5" points that
is awarded under the current immigration regulations.

If not, I guess most students who fall under the "transtitional
arrangements" will have to do either NAATI or invest Aus$ 100,000

regards
Ranga

It seems like the exemption applies only to the waiver of recent work experience, not to the award of the Australian qualification points.

Best to wait to see if the announced proposals are approved as amendments to the current migration regulations.

hi

i am totally confused about this.

so the person who is completing his one year duration course in november 2003. will only get waiver of recent one year experiance. he will not get 5 points of his australian degree.

is it so???

and when will this proposal be included as an amendments.

regards

When the proposals are accepted and gazetted.

Graet news: I picked this excerpt from the question answer section from immi website:

Question 7 - I applied for a general skilled migration visa before 1 July 2003. Will I need to meet the 2 years minimum Australian study requirement in order to get 5 points for my Australian qualification?

If you applied before 1 July 2003 and your application has not been decided before this date, you will only need to have completed your Australian degree, diploma, or trade qualification as a result of at least 1 year of full time study in Australia to receive 5 points.

Overseas students undertaking studies in Australia on 31 March 2003 whose application is assessed after 1 July 2003 will be required to meet only the existing 1 year study requirement for the award of these points.
