Question TRA- self employed Carpenter

I am starting to apply and have talked to one agent who informed me the TRA is the difficult step (where can I download this form?).I have advanced city and guilds, full apprenticeship, and 18 yrs self employed but the last 8 have been working as a company on accountants advice, I am always on the tools but what do i need to prove this, anyone out there done this succesfully either diy or thru agent.I have suppliers, and I suppose invoices, any relevant info is much appreciated.
P.S I believe I can apply a 136, or 139 family member,any other way.

thanks in advance

Hi,

Welcome to the forum. There are loads of very helpfull people on here as well as some professionals that are always at hand to offer some advice.

Have a look at http://www.workplace.gov.au/workplac...Assessment.htm
for the application forms.

Also do a search on the forum and you should be able to get loads of info (about getting your trade assessed) from previously posted threads.

Good luck and all the best.
Paula

Download form at:

http://www.workplace.gov.au/workplac...Assessment.htm

The TRA is the most important step in the process but not necessarily the most difficult. I would recommend that you find an Australian Registered Migration Agent who is either experienced with TRA applications or one who contracts a specialised TRA consultant. Being a registered Migration Agent requires absolutely no knowledge of the TRA process so you need to satisfy yourself as to the competency of the Registered Migration Agent in this area.

Regards

Tony

Hubby is a brickie and we've just applied via an agent. You can get forms via DIMA website and they have links plus info re TRA. Hubby didn't have formal qualifications so you are one step ahead already.

We had to get statements from all previous employers to prove length of time in job as well as submit references from people he'd worked for and thousands of other bits of paperwork - you have to be very detailed and thorough or app will be rejected.

We used Glenn Newton - used to be big bloke at TRA. It's not even costing us £2k for whole TRA and visa app - if you want to you can just use them for TRA for an awful lot less than that.
