tourist visa for teenage sister: sponsored family stream or tourist stream
 

Hi everyone
I am thinking about offering my teenage sister a gap year in Australia living and travelling with us. She would need a 12 month tourist visa. (Unfortunately South Africans are not eligible for working holiday visas). Under the visitor visa subclass 600 there seem to be two options: the tourist stream (which she would apply for in South Africa) or the sponsored family stream (which I think I would apply for at one of the Sponsored Family visa processing centers in NSW or Queensland.
Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of each stream or what the main differences between the two would be? I have no idea which way to go
