Default Time to wait after medicals

Sent medical and police details in mid-Jan to Adelaide and now waiting. Anyone know how long we might expect to wait?

We submitted our medicals and police checks on 12 Feb and have been told we should hear back within three months. I hope so as we have bought our flights (to go out on 30th May) and are about to give notice on our jobs! Brave or stupid??!!

hi,
we did our medicals 14 jan and posted them the same day. Had a letter granting us the visas dated 5 feb. so should not be too long????
posted our passports off today and went round town smiling to everyone like a luney!

It must vary a lot. I sent my medical/police clearance early Jan and
I've heard nothing yet.

That was with a business investment linked visa.
The estimated processing time was 4 months, it's been 9 already.
I should be there by now :-(

congrats pott

that was a short time space between sending med's and recieving visa, do you think it is because you have waited so long already.
I'm also a spark, where do you intend to settle.

Wow! That is quick - you must be delighted. I checked with our assessor who simply confirmed that it could be up to three months turnaround - but she then went on to say that we should be able to get out to Aus by early next year (which sounded pretty hopeful to me!). So i have just put my "be patient" hat on and wait and hope that it comes through soon. I certainly look forward to being made redundant if I have my visa in my back pocket, but won't be quite so assured if its not in there yet!

Good luck in Aus!

Cheers
Steve

Default Time to wait after medicals

We actually got a call from our agent a few hours after I posted the last message to say that we're in!!! Much relief and handed in notice to boss with glee! That was a turn around of 7 days after our medical stuff was received at Adelaide! We applied under skilled independent category and submitted everything in Dec 2001 and our medicals were requested in Jan 2003.

Do any of you trades men out there know whether 110V power tools can be used in Oz? We were also wondering whether anyone had ever had difficulties with shipping tools bearing in mind they are often not the cleanest of things and I've seen postings about things like garden equipment needing to be spotless. Any ideas much apreciated!

Hi Jesse

Re cleaning tools - we have had a few shipping quotes and each company has said that the main thing customs have problems with are things which have come into contact with mud and outdoors as it could contain worms, insect eggs etc. When we asked about my hubbies tools they said to try and get them as clean as possible, but that they do understand that they will be reasonably dirty as they have been used! If they are tools used indoor you shouldn't have problems.Just give em a good scrub!

We are really tempted to go with Allied Pickford or Crown Relocations - although not cheapest they were both very professional, and have their own offices and staff out in Oz rather than using agents. I've heard some horror stories about some of the companies being very good over here, but their agents in Oz being crap, and taking ages to deliver your stuff, can't get hold of them etc.
