Hi. Could you let us know what your nominated occupation was? And the occupation for which you showed relevant work experience? Quite suprising to hear that no employment check was carried out. Which company did you work for? Apologies if the question is a little personal but just curious to know. FYI, I've applied for a 136 non-MODL visa in June this year and I am from India too.

I am from Ludhiana ( Punjab ) . To get police clearance as per Australian recommendation , u have to visit Regional passport office . I think that should be in Bombay . U have to fill form for police clearance with 300 rs fees and submit the original passport and they will send u the police clearance certificate with ur passport by post . If ur passport is new one means 2 or 3 years old , they will not do any police check from ur local police station and will reach u within 10 to 12 days . Oderwise it may take a month . Good Luck for ur case . tc

Hi Sandhu,
I am an Architect by profession, curently in MODL list (as per 1st Sept update). My skills assessment takes almost 20 weeks from Adelaide. After I get my +ve skills assessment only then I can apply for immigration.I wanted to ask you only one thing. Are you happy there?? and according to you in how much time visa grant can be done after I submit application.
I also want to ask you,if your skills were in MODL list then why are you doing odd jobs.
Will I be able to get job after 14 months in my field. How do I check this.If you know someone from my field in Australia please put me to him.Thanks.

Re: Time line for Indian Applicants
I am doing odd jobs because its not INDIA . Here a person doing labour is earning more than a white collar one . The second reason is that it is difficult to enter in technical field due to racism . Even in ur field , u need to pass a very difficult licencing formalities to be able to get recognized . But if u get recognized , then there would be rain of dollars . That is my opinion . For the first two years , every one need to struggle .

Thanks Sandhu for the reply. How about if I get a job offer before I reach Australia.I have submitted my portfolios to 2 recruiters.Awaiting for reply.Frankly speaking I am worried for the MODL list and the duration for which it will long.I hope there is requirement till I reach there.Sandhu if you dont mind how much are you earning per hour by doing odd jobs. Also which jobs do you call odd.I will be prepared psychologically.

doing a job not related to your field can be called an odd job . Most of my engineer friends are driving taxis and earning about 5000 dollars per month . I am doing a job in factory as a machine operator and earning 20 dollars per hour . Ur worry about MODL is wrong because once u entered the application , even if the list is changed , ur application will not be affected , u will get the points and the priority .
