Thread for timeline/processing/how long is a piece of string questions

Re: Immigration duration
Dear all,
I was wondering if anyone knows how long does it take for a case officer to be allocated to view the application for immigrating to Australia? It has been more than 6 months since I first lodged my application and documents to the immigration and citizenship office and I haven’t heard from them since.
Thank you

Re: How can I check online status of ricieving requested additional files for online
I provided from previous emploer mainly.But also tried to collect same doc from present employer and submitted what I got from them.
For attendence record I submitted eletronic attendance record as I had to punch my ID card to entry and exit every day.
Year end doc was the doc that my employer provided me as refrence of TAX calculation and income for the year...
feel free for any query..

Yasmin,
Nobody can really say. Initially DIAC said all CSL applications would have a Case Officer by the end of may, but it's fairly obvious that hasn't happened. Unfortunately you just have to hold on... I doubt it will be very long though. Just consider yourself lucky you're on the CSL... a lot of people who aren't on the CSL have already waited 18 months or more and there is no sign of getting a CO in the near future.

Well if this makes the string any longer or shorter then according to the beupdate website, this person was granted his/her visa today.

Visa Type=175 MODL Online
Application Sent=23/09/08
Occupation/Country=Computer Specialist CHINA
Agent=No
Meds=Sent
PCC=Sent
Case Officer=29/04/09
Visa Granted=19/06/09
There is only 7 more working days left until the next financial year so does it really matter . You would live longer if you stressed less about things that are completely out of your control .
Just my take on things.

Re: April/May/June- 09 175 Visa Applicants
Hi,
I am applying for 175 visa. Already have letter from ACS and have IELTs score of 7.5 (mine) and 6.5(my wife).
Now, I am confused about how to apply. Means, should I apply online through that online tool or I should send the documents through post/courier.
In form 1276, it is written that department encourages to apply online and the process is also fast.
Can anybody just confirm to me that:
1. What is better. Apply online or courier.
2. Are there any difference between them
3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of both of these procedure.
4. If I apply online, do I have to scan the original documents or verified / attested photocopies of those documents.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Komail Noori

2. Are there any difference between them---- online gets submitted at that point of time....courier takes 3 to 4 weeks to get get submitted and get updated
3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of both of these procedure.
online adv-- faster and flexible disadv---- i can"t think of one
courier----- more traditional way disadv----additional month of processing
4. If I apply online, do I have to scan the original documents or verified / attested photocopies of those documents.
1st photocopy the documents and get it attested and then scan it and send it online

Slow visa approval rate
For the past many days I am observing that the visa approval rates have gone down dramatically. I saw another thread in which one application got a response that everything in his application was complete but he needed to wait till August for visa approval. Here is the response to my PLE:
Dear ABC,
Thank you for your e-mail about your visa application under Australia’s
General Skilled Migration program.
It appears that you have provided the documents requested at this stage.
There may be some delay before a case officer contacts you regarding this
application however no further documents are required at this time.
We appreciate your patience in this matter.
Is my observation correct that the visa progression has currently slowed down?
