Best of luck.
The 885 subclass was scrapped, so any points tested PR applications would go through SkillSelect. There doesn't appear to be any '2 year study in Australia' pathway.

To the OP, 20 hours/week only counts as part-time work so you would not be able to claim any experience points in a year when your studies are up. Also experience gained prior to qualification does not count as skilled work experience anyway.

I'm all for continuing education and improving ones skills, but using a student visa with the hopes of getting PR is a very risky move, good luck.

I read somewhere that hey are now requiring students to demonstrate why they would be leaving at the end of their course so the expectation is, increasingly, that they will move on. Not a risk I would be taking unless I had won the lottery!

You could try TAFE. I knew A EU national that had studied welfare, perhaps it was two years though, then got work on a bridging visa. Her partner worked also at low skilled positions.
She was still waiting to hear about PR last I heard.
This was four years back so things may have changed.

Things HAVE changed, troubadour. Student visa to PR was tightened up a few years ago.
