Temporary Work Visa

Hi all,
Since deciding to apply for a PR visa, things have changed and the company I work for may
be in a positon to sponsor me for a temporary works visa. The idea being that I could then
apply for PR when in country. Can this be done?
Also, should I be refused PR, would this immediately affect my temporary visa?
Any advice would be useful.
