Default Temp.Visa

How can we make this work?
We live in the US and have daughter and son-in-law (Australians) living
here.
They want to start building a retirement village and we want to
(a) invest about AUD 250,000.00 in the project.
(b) Help in the organizing of building and then running of the place.
(c) become PR here.

Me 64 wife 56. We don't appear to have total of 105 points.
Anybody with suggestions regarding the best way for us to go about this
problem?

A retiree visa no go, as we will not be allowed to work helping them.

Thanks

You sound perfect for the 457 Long-stay business visa.

If you get the 457, then you can go to Australia for 4 years, and before the 4 years is up, you can apply for permanent residence based on your ownership in the business.

I agree: look at an application for a 457-Independent Executive visa followed by an application for a permanent Established Business visa as and when you meet the criteria for that visa.

Details in the latter regard are here:
http://www.gomatilda.com/visas/business_skilled_migration.cfm#Established Business in Australia
(you might need to cut and paste this link).

Hope this helps.

Thank you both Alan Collett and dm543 for your reply to my message.

I have looked on the DIMIA website but haven't been able to find anything on
the 457 Temp Visa.
Probably not looking in the correct place. (grn)

(a) To apply for the 457 Visa, should we be here or offshore? Any
advantage one way or the other?

(b) We are here at present on a normal tourist visa, but booked to return
in about a month's time.

(c) Can we get a 457 Visa without passing the points test?

(d) Do we apply for PR after two years here and then pass the points
test?

Thanks for now.

Regards

In answer to your questions:

a. You must be offshore.
b. Noted.
c. Yes.
d. Established Business points test to be satisfied at time of visa application, together with the other visa criteria.

Please feel able to call me if you want to discuss further - our Melbourne office number is on the Go Matilda website:
http://www.gomatilda.com

Best regards.

Dear Hopeful,

You will find it hard to meet the criteria for a permanent business visa at
your age so your wife may need to wear the pants. There is no reason why
you cannot come to Australia on a retirement visa and let your wife come on
a 457IE, or perhaps you could just both drop over on business ETAs and let
your daughter sponsor you for parent visas if you qualify on the balance of
family test.

Lots of interesting issues there, make sure you get good advice.

Cheers

Have four children, but only one in Australia, so the Child/Parent thing
wont work unfortunately.
Who do we go to for good advice?

Thanks
