Default temp to perm visa

Hi everyone, this maybe an obvious question but here goes,
We are currently in Perth on a temp visa and are expecting our perm visa shortly, do we have to leave Oz to come back in and validate the permanent one and is there a minimum time you must leave for, thanks in advance.

Which temporary visa nd which PR visa are you talking about? And is it an onshore or offshore PR?
