Hi all

We will be travelling to Sydney in the first week of december to get our visas validated. Due to some urgent issues, we'll be returning in January and flying out again some time in the middle of next year. Could some body please provide inputs on getting a temp\contract job for the duration. I am an IT professional but am willing to take up any kind of work.

The IT job market is pretty poor right now, as is the temp market as a whole in the run up to Christmas. Coupled with the fact that most companies shut down over Christmas/New Year (or run on skeleton staff), and the number of backpackers seeking temp work in various fields, I'm afraid the chances of finding a contract of such specific length is unlikely.

You could use the time to register with a number of recruitment agencies in preparation for your eventual return however, so that they can start seeking longer-term work for you.

It is almost impossible to find one. In my understanding, a lot of these
contract jobs are for 3-6 months.

The process of writing applications, getting interviewed and hired itself
may take weeks.
