Can i take my home phone with me, do they have the same conectors.

Dunno about home phones, but mobiles apparently run on 900Mhz, the same as Cellnet
and Vodafone in the UK.

The majority of UK mobiles sold in the last few years are dual band, so even if you
use them on the Orange or One-to-One networks (at 1800MHz) you can use them on the
Australian networks too.
Just make sure the phone is unlocked so it will accept another SIM card - easier to
arrange this in the UK rather than after arriving in Australia,
