Tax waived - is it true?

Dear all,

Is it true that when one wants to move to Australia for the first time
(after obtaining PR), he/she is waived from shipping tax (not too sure
what is the maximum container)for a stated weightage/container size?

I'm not too sure whether this holds true? can someone please share
their thoughts on this?

Thanks,
esjl

Re: Tax waived - is it true?

As far as I know, you don't pay tax on any shipped household goods that are
your property & have been in your possession for 12 or more months. You do
have to pay duty on goods less than 12 months old & on cars (however old).

Check out a couple of shipping companies (Anglo Pacific, Allied Pickfords).
