Question Sydney or Melbourne

Hi all,

Considering house rent, cost of living and also in finding suitable employment which of these two places will be more better off for a newly arrived migrant with credentials in NetWare (IT)? Is house rent comparatively cheaper in Melbourne (including the surrounding suburbs)?

Is there a website detailing about Victoria which will be useful for new migrants?

Thanks in advance

Princef,

The real estate in Melbourne is comparitively cheaper than Sydney. Hard to say an exact figure but I would guess at 20% or so. Of course, it all depends on comparing like-for-like. Check out http://www.realestate.com.au.

I wouldn't have much confidence of getting a Netware-based job in Australia. Not only is IT in general going through a very bad patch at the moment, but Netware is hardly in demand anymore, even if you are qualified.

With regards to websites, you can try the DIMIA site at http://www.immi.gov.au, or perhaps http://www.migration.vic.gov.au/ for Victoria.

Good luck,
