Nice one. I've always thought of NSydney as a good trade-off. Would you
care to mention the road you live in, or one very close by as I'm not
exactly sure where N Sydney and Waverton cover. I used to live in Cremorne
Point which was wonderful - couldn't live there again though!
We live in Maclaren St, off Miller St. Before that we stayed with friends in Harriott St, off Bay Road, in Waverton. Waverton is lovely - nice suburb, a couple of great little cafes, nice waterfront walk (Balls Head). Also both N Sydney and Waverton are 10 minutes walk to Crows Nest which is a nice but busy little suburb which is full of a vast array of restaurants and coffee shops.
Every other train stops in Waverton rather than every train like N Sydney so some mornings I found myself waiting at the train station for 5 or 6 minutes instead of the 1 or 2 minutes I endure (!) at N Sydney. If we were staying in Sydney we would buy a townhouse in Waverton if we could afford one (decent 3 bed townhouse in Waverton = $600k to $700k). If you are looking at Waverton my advice is avoid Shirley Road and Bay Road as they are too busy and packed with some quite poor apartment blocks. Look for some side roads off Bay Road - some are dead ends and traffic free, wide tree lined streets with harbour views at the harbour end.
It may cost a little more but worth it.

holiday tomorrow for a while but will report back when I return on
Oct. 10. Good luck with your trip and I hope to hear more from you
later.

Hi Elsie,

what's your e-mail address? Is it this one: Elsie
? I tried writing to it but it came back
undelivered. I wrote to you:

Hi Elsie,

a good site to get info on importing cats is the Oz immigration
website at www.aqis.gov.au where they have all
the official
requirements.

We're taking them from Switzerland. The aqis recommends that one
starts all the work 90 days prior to going. There's a whole range of
tests that have to be done and they must be vaccinated against rabies,
then there's a waiting period before a blood test is done to make sure
they don't have the virus. There's a minimum of 1 month quarantine but
depending on when they were vaccinated and how soon they come to Oz
that could take longer, at least if they come from here, I don't know
the details from the UK. I would prefer them to be shipped with an
agency as I'm paranoid about some cowboys banging the transport boxes
around so they open and the cats escape and get lost. Which companies
there are here, I don't know. If you get a look at Outlook Australia
there are always many ads from companies in the Uk that do these
things - at a cost of course, seems it can be quite hefty. In Oz they
charge 20 Oz dollars a day for the first cat while they're in
quarantine and give a discount for no. 2, can't remember how much.
Check the site.

I would recommend doing a search on the google site for "cats" there's
been quite a few threads with advice from people who've done it.

That's all I can think of right now. We're going on holiday tomorrow,
not Oz, southern France, and will be back in 2 weeks. If you have any
further questions feel free to contact me again.

Cheers

Hi Helen,

thanks for the info; we will be using an agency, as I'm also totally paranoid about their safety and want to do it the best possible way.

I thought it might be useful that we exchange tips along the way as we'll be going through the same process (or similar anyway )

I don't understand why your email was returned, and also it appears that I can't email you directly.

Can anyone help.... how do I contact Helen via her email address (there's no button!).

BTW, er du dansk?

Cheers,
Elsie.
