Subclass 801 Spouse
I have just been granted this visa - yay! Took DIMIA exactly 2 months from submitting my forms.
You would think I would take the trouble to know the rules of the visa before I applied, but obviously I don't! So rather than embarrass myself by asking a DIMIA person my stupid question I thought I'd ask members here!
I thought on granting this visa I needed a Resident Return Visa each time I wanted to leave the country, but my confirmation letter tells me I can enter and leave as many times as I like..........so does that mean I can go then??? How about if I want to leave for a few months, years even??? Are there any restrictions I should be aware of?
Suddenly things don't look so bad any more........I thought I had to stay here until I was granted citizenship........I feel slightly stupid now.........but relieved at the same time!

This means that you don't need an RRV to re-enter Australia when travelling overseas within this 5-year period.
If you have not obtained Australian citizenship by the time your 801 visa expires, you will need to get an RRV in order to travel and return to Australia as a permanent resident.
