Studying while application being processed

Hi everybody :)

I have lodged my application for GSM immigration visa for Australia on 12th of August 2010. Now I have an opportunity to continue my PhD studies in Canada which normally takes 3-4 years. Do you think that it is possible or wise to start this study period? or I should wait for my application?
