Default Student visa to PR??

Hi all.

Does anybody know which are the best 2 year TAFE course's to do to help gain permanent residency? There seems to be so many different opinions out there on this subject. As this is our only option and a costly one at that, we do not want to spend lots of money and have to leave after 2 years.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi,

Unfortunately I don't think that there are any courses that guarantee PR, but I am going on the assumption that everybody needs to eat hence why I have applied to do a Diploma in Hospitality Management (Patisserie Stream). I want to be a pastry chef which I have alway's wanted to do.
Just make sure you consider a course which hopefully will be on the SOL or MODL list when you have finished.

Good Luck

Hi ya,
I don't think there is a best course as the immigration rules could change so much in 2yrs, It's our only option too and we're willing to take that gamble ,if we have to come back than so be it, we would rather take the chance than in 5yrs time say what if? At the end of the day only you know what's best for you.

Caroline.

My partners going to study the Child Care Co-ordinators course on the Gold Coast. After the 2 years she will apply for the 18 month work experience visa (with full work rights), and then hopefully get PR, or get sponsored by the company she's working for, get more experience and then get PR. Seems like a good plan but we're just nervous as its going to be expensive and don't want to waste 3.5 years or maybe longer, and not get PR.

There is always sponsorship after the two years. If you are in regional Australia you would be sponsored for PR even if 'your' job is taken off the list.

I would suggest regional is safer....but is it not just study, some skills assessments requires several years experience at e.g. management level.....
