Stni - Does The Work Have To = The Asco Code
Dear All
Just a quick question. If you gain a visa via STNI do you have to work in the profession / asco code job under which you obtained the STNI and if you can`t find a job in that field in the initial 2 years does that mean you have to leave
Cheers
Mick

Hi Mick,
The visa granted under STNI is a permie visa, your only restriction is that you must live and work in the sponsoring state for two years. You are not tied to your asco code, you are free to work at whatever you want.

Good question - I would think the onus is only on the husband, but there may be other visa related issues with living separately. As to living in another state, maybe if you live close enough to the sponsoring state you'll be a borderline case. ;-)
But seriously, regardless of how thoroughly they check up or how stringently they enforce the rules, you will have a moral obligation to live and work in the sponsoring state. It is only for two years.

All of your family members have to live, work or study in the state for at least two years after arriving
