Somerset is a big place to get lost in, I've discovered when following instructions to do just that.
Matt you're in the right place. This weather is really concentrating our minds to try to make the move next year. We could have done with missing The Great Freeze of '09.

[QUOTE=ruth-phil;8191159]Congratulation to Matt & your wife, what a great xmas you will have. Good Luck
Ruth & Phil[/QUOTE)
Many thanks to all for the congratulations, I think I had it in mind we were not ever going to get to this point, with so many obstacles on the way!
The next obstacle will be validating the visa, we were at the doctors this afternoon and sounding out if mid to end January would be a safe time to take a trip to NZ and back, he just shook his head and said, your health comes first, which is absolutely right, but he has no idea of what we have gone through to get this far! He was absolutely astounded when we told him how much the visas cost, thought we were joking at first. So now its looking for possible cruises there, but being the time of year they are fully booked!
Watch this space!
A very happy Christmas & New Year to you all, enjoy the winter weather, it only comes occasionally now. We of course will be on the beach Xmas day with cold beers and all the beach babes (must remember to take my heart tablets!! and binoculars)
Cheers

Hi Matt.
Good news congratulations on the grant of visa, I had the same problem as your wife last year when I had a DVT in my left leg, I was due to fly home to the UK about 6 weeks later.
Once they have sorted out your wifes INR and it has stabilized they will let you fly,
I was able to fly home 6 weeks later, The only other thing is you will need to declare the problem with your insurance company and that could cost.
I couldn't fault the doctors in Oz they were brilliant, The specialist who was in charge of me wrote a letter to singapore Airlines saying that I had to travel 1st glass and I did, its the only way to fly.
The only problem was that the wife had to fly economy.
We did the day at the beach on christmas day and it was great wish we were doing it this year.
Best wishes and good luck with your trip

Re: STILL VERY SPARKLY contributory parent visa thread part 3.
Due For Imminent Release!!
It has been 19 Months in Production
It has cost Thousands of Pounds to Produce
It has provided Employment for Thousands of Australians
It has only a Cast of 3 (us 2 & the CO)
And it is released on Circuit tomorrow 22nd December 2009!!
Yes, you've guessed it, "AVAVISA" The latest production from the team that also produced "Matt Down Under" earlier in the year!
Ok, I am just a little excited that I have received an email from our CO to say he is doing our grant letter either later tonight, or first thing tomorrow Oz time. It is in response to my email, asking if "The Pony Express Mail" had arrived yet.
I will not celebrate just yet, not until I have printed out that letter and locked it in the safe!
Cheers

Re: STILL VERY SPARKLY contributory parent visa thread part 3.
Congratulations on your visa grants.
Hopefully your wife will be well enough to travel soon.
We did the trip to NZ for our visa's in 2007 and thought you might find the tip we were given helpful.
If you want to avoid a long wait at the Australian Consulate arrive early (opens at 9am) as the waiting room fills up very quickly.
The Consulate is on the 7th floor. We arrived at 8.50am to find a few people were already waiting in the foyer for the lift. The lift for the 7th floor isn't available until 9am. As soon as we could we made our way up to the waiting room and by 9.30am had the precious visa's in our passports and at last were able to relax and just enjoy being tourists.
The waiting room was already filling up by the time we left.
Best of luck to you both. Tony

Hi Everyone,
I have been stuck in London due to the weather, and missed all this excitement. It is wonderful news for those Red Star STARS, Santa was listening after all. and all the other snippets of news which were very interesting. What a fantastic thread this is!!
WISHING YOU ALL A HAPPY XMAS
and needless to say
A FRUITFUL NEW YEAR.
Best Wishes
Elaine.
