Dear Guys

Does anyone knows how the Sri Lanka PCC requests are handled?

Hi Man,

I am also awaiting Police Clearance. I have already lodged my papers.

My friend who has got PR told me that DIMA directly contact Police HeadQuarters and then they inform the regional police station closer to your residence. After that they come to your place and conduct some interviews (to check whether you have been commited any crime or have been sentenced by any courts etc.) They directly send a report to DIMA. That's how it happens. But I have no clue how long it would take.

There's an intermediate step - Dimia will request the local Australian
Embassy, which in turn contacts the police. Usually the local police
responsible for reporting back to the embassy sits on your papers. If
you are able to get a reference for your police request - you could
call the police and get them to act on it quicker. I've seen this info
posted on another newsgroups - just cant find it at this time...

I believe you have submitted form 80, which the DIMIA will use to get the clearance themselves as said by droshan. This process can take upto 6 months to complete, particularly for off-shore applications made to Adelaide.

Hi Nice to hear from all of you. My CO told that she has sent off my form 80 for PCC in mid may. Still local police head quarters says they have not received any request from Australian embassy in Colombo.

Will it be ok to call and ask Australian Embassy regarding this, will they respond??

Advice expected from the forum

Hi Sriram,

When did you lodge your papers. I have lodge it on 5 May 2005 and received the acknowledement on 12 May 2005. Should I expect my PCC by now? As Jeewa said it would take good six months if we let it happen. But I belive it's the delay is in our local poice station.

(By the way, Who is the CO (certifiying officer), is it the person who send the acknowledement of my application by mail on behalf od the DIMA or is it some one officially assined by DIMA and inform as CO??)
