Firstly, look at your visa. If it says 'condition 8515 - Not Marry
Before First Entry' then you cannot get married before you validate
your visa. If you do your visa risks cancellation.
Even without this condition, marriage before first entry to Australia
is a change of circumstances and you would have to advice DIMIA. Your
visa could still be cancelled if she failed medical or police checks.
Once you make your first entry to Australia, you become a PR and only
then can you sponsor for a spouse visa. Someone else replied that
only citizens can sponsor - not true, PRs can also sponsor, but do
need to be 'usually resident' in Australia. You may want to get some
professional advice on this.
Have a look at the Partner migration booklet from the DIMIA website.
If you have been living with your girlfriend in a de-facto
relationship you should already have advised DIMIA (especially if you
have reached the 12 month mark of living together). If this applies
and you've not done so, then hire a good agent straight away.

Never heard of this rule.
There is a rule that imposes a 2 year temporary visa for most spouse
visa applicants, but that's not the same.
And there's a 12 month cohabitation rule for people in de-facto
relationships, but that's not the same either.
The bottom line is that a PR can sponsor for a spouse visa once his
visa has been validated and he is 'usually resident' in Australia.
There is no minimum period for marriage or residence in Australia.
Full evidence of the spousal relationship will have to be provided,
but that's a standard requirement.

Hi,
I have just gotten my visa granted recently. I would like to know whether I could tie the knot with my girlfriend so that I could sponsor her for an Australia PR? Is there any regulations regarding marriage upon becoming a PR (such as marriage only after six months?)
Hope any one here could help answer my queries.
Thank you!

I certainly will correct you. You can be an Australian citizen, permanent
resident or eligible New Zealand citizen.
The two year sponsorship rule is not set down in stone in the regulations,
but is part of DIMIA's procedure. If you get married, I am sure DIMIA will
look kindly on your application for sponsorship if they are convinced that
you are in a genuine relationship.
