spent convictions
Hi, do you know if there are restrictions on emmigrating to Australia if you have previous convictions? my husband is a bricklayer and we'd love to move out there but he has spent convictions from over 10 years ago. thanks nadine:)

Australian authorities are very strict about any person trying to enter Australia with previous criminal convictions. It shouldnt matter to them whether it was 5 years ago, 10 or 20. The fact he has a criminal past will go against him.
The best advice i can give you is just be honest on your application, and provide the necessary documentation meticulously. Dont miss anything out as this automatically goes against you. Best of luck. |

As stated, it depends on what the conviction was for, when it was, time served in prison, etc. If it's a minor charge from years ago with no time served then it shouldn't cause any problem. If it's more serious, recent and time served it may be a little more difficult.
Also as stated, be 100% honest on your application as surely it will show up on his police clearance certificate. |
