SOS : State Sponsorship Confusion : Need help

Hi Mods/ All

I applied for ACT state sponsorship in May 2011.. They have sponsored me this month after three months:) ...While I was waiting for ACT application outcome I got my new skill assessment from ACS and luckily that code was in SA SMP list... So just as a backup option (whatever) I applied for SA state sponsorship and am expecting an outcome of it this week...I did all this just to make sure I have sponsorship from at least 1 state before quotas get filled up as my past experience with SS was real bad (I got rejected from Victoria after 6 months of waiting- no demand;sure waste of time).

I am waiting for SA SS outcome as personally I prefer to go to Adelaide over Canberra as Canberra has job complications( security clearance issues).

I am not sure what do I do with ACT sponsorship if I get approved from SA?

Is there any need to tell ACT CM Department that I wanna withdraw or something?

I am scared to tell them as they asked in application form "Have ya applied for SS in any other state which at that time I answered "no" but later on i did and never updated them.

Is their any need to update ACT or they gonna update DIAC or something?I am not sure what to do at this point. I am kinda worried and need help.

thanks in advance
regards
Bob

It seems pretty clear to me; if you get the SA sponsorship and that is where you want to go then tell ACT you don't require their sponsorship anymore.

Hey Bermudashorts

I understand that part...My Q is.. Is it necessary to update them (ACT) ? I mean if I don't update them (I told you the reason why in my previous post)..Will they update to DIAC or something...Will it impact my 176 application with SA sponsorship ?

How long have ACT given you to apply for the 176?

If you get SA SS before then no probs just use the SA SS for the 176 and tell ACT no thanks.

Your only issue really is if the ACT deal runs out before you get the SA one.

I would leave sleeping dogs lie if possible.

Now that you have an option, ensure that you make the best decision. The most important factor to consider is obviously the state which has a higher number of jobs for your occupation. I did a quick search on seek for network security and Canberra returned many more jobs than Adelaide. Although this might not be the best way, it definitely gives you an idea.

The point is that once you get the state sponsored visa, a situation should not arise where you want to break your obligation towards the state and move to another.

Good luck to you.

Isn't that what I said ... when you get SA sponsorship, tell ACT you don't require theirs anymore. No reason to do anything before then, SA might turn you down.

Sounds logical to me - hang on to ACT till you know you can go elsewhere, then say "thanks but no thanks" to ACT, thus allowing them to use the slot for someone else ;)

Interested to know what you put in the same box on the SA application form? Or do they not ask?

When I was applying for visas the law was that the last visa issued by DIAC superceeds and cancels any others in existence.

If that is still the case when DIAC grant the SA visa it will mean automatic cancellation of the ACT one.

On that basis you better be sure you want the SA one.

If you change your mind and want the ACT one you need to cancel the SA application immediately.

Poly, Bix Ozdreams,

Thanks you for your inputs Mods... I really appreciate that...I was just wanted to be crystal before I file my 176 with SA or ACT sponsorships:wub:...I dunno wanna to do anything or break any rule that jeopardizes my 176 because I know how much I value these sponsorships after going through 2 years of DIAC rule changing grilling process. I believe in BE more than any other forum and respect it.
thanks once again :D

Ran82
My Old code was an ASCO 2231-79 (Network Security Specialist) which was not mapping directly with any ANZSCO so they recommended me to file a new assessment with just my updated employment letter,Old assessment and any new certifications ( I completed my CCNA,MCTS and MCITP) as they had all my academic etc. documents that I had already sent.

It will take around 12-14 weeks because I applied somewhere around in April first week and got it late July. One more thing, You can ask them to mail pdf copy of assessment as it would cutoff your shipping time of registered letter by 2 weeks (you can file state sponsorship with that but not visa).

Hi Bob,

Thank you very much for the info, but problem is its only 1 week we applied for re assesment and its not like your case. our ACS has expired and we just need to renew it. dont know how long will it take.

our case officer already sent us a mail telling that he will send a pdf copy as soon as they make a decisison.

we are worry that our SA state sponsership will get rjected due to this.

our agent said they will do it if we can not submit our ACS.

Do you know any similar case like this for SA sate sponsership?

we still beleive that expired ACS will not much affect to sate sponsership approval

Hey
If your assessment is valid file your state sponsorship because its better you do that before SA closes the list. Also you file your new assessment and wait...one more imp thing... SA will request you new assessment if it gets expired while your SA SS application is still in progress..Incase you are granted SA SS(before your assessment expires) then you have 30 days to file visa with SA sponsorship and hence n you need new assessment because you cannot file visa with expired assessment.Once more catch ; once you have SA sponsorship they give you 30 days to file visa.

All the best for a complicated situation. Hope you handle it well :fingerscrossed:
regards
Bob
