Australian & American CPA
Hello,
I'm an Egyptian accountant with Bachelor in accounting from an Egyptian university and I want to apply for CPA so that I can apply for skilled worker immigration to Australia.
in Egypt we have the American CPA programs available for study and I can take the exam in nearby countries like Bahrain or UAE instead of going to USA.
The question is, if I get the American CPA, does that qualify me to apply for immigration as a general accountant in Ausralia directly ?
Or do I have to get the Australian CPA, and if I do is it just a formality of do I have to study and take another exam ?
Thanks

Re: Australian & American CPA
A quick look on the Aussie CPA site shows that it is 'possible' to transfer in with American CPA qualification but I guess by no means guaranteed.

There's been a lot in the media lately about Australian CPA and they seem to be in a bit of strife about fees and low pass rates - I suggest you should weigh up your options around the amount of work, cost and time it will take to gain full qualification in each of the main bodies.
You should also consider the other Aussie CA outfit: https://www.charteredaccountantsanz.com/ their qualification probably holds a bit more higher standing than CPA
