Skilled migration visa

I am in the process of applying for a skilled
migration visa. I have passed the trades recognition and I am now ready to
apply for the visa. However, initially when I started the visa process in
motion I was a 30 year single guy. Since then things have changed. I am now
in a relationship and we are getting married in September. My fiancee has a
15 (nearly 16) year old daughter. The father of her daughter has never had
anything to do with her, even though his name is on the birth certificate.
She has never been married to this guy either. And we do not know where he
lives. The problem is, is that my agent has told me that I either need to
obtain a letter from the father saying he agrees to let his daughter go and
live overseas or my fiancee obtains permission from the courts in order to
take her out of the country. We have been to 5 different solicitors and
each one has said that she don't need to do this because she never married
him and she has full legal responsibility.
We really are confused and don't know where to turn. My agent won't
recommend a solicitor who knows what we want and he wont speak to our
solicitor on our behalf.
Can anyone give me any advise? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Hi Russ,
I sympathise with your problem - I'm sure that other posters have been in a similar situation and if you do a search you will probably find some useful info.
I'm a solicitor although I hasten to add that my field is not family law. I would have thought that your partner could make a statutory declaration explaining the background. Your solicitor should be able to help with the drafting of this....

I would like to change my agent but I feel I have paid him a lot of money
for this. If I could get over this hurdle, then maybe things might improve.
I will certainly be naming and shaming if they don't.
In the mean time I am still left with the same problem. This has been
verified by other agents.
The more obstacles I have, the more determined it makes me to get through
this.
