Skill Matching Database

Have been doing some research on skills database for Primary Teacher.
Has anyone been successful going down this route? Seems to be lots of details posted on there and can't really find any details on how many successful applicants there are?
It would appear people out their details on there forever and nothing happens  Is this route viable

Dear AB,

No the Skill Matching database is almost a total waste of diodes, unfortunately. A shame because they could easily market those skills actively for the benefit of applicants.

In my view it would be better to see what state sponsorship options might be open to you, eg through state sponsorship for a permanent visa or temporary visa. See, for example, http://www.liveinvictoria.vic.gov.au...1&contentId=-1 and http://www.liveinvictoria.vic.gov.au...1&contentId=-1 . If you happen to be a kindergarten teacher then a permanent sponsored visa is possible, otherwise you can be sponsored for the regional visa as a primary teacher.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Dear AB,

Just a glimmer of hope in this morning's Age: http://www.theage.com.au/news/nation...368944842.html

Not sure what they're offering apart from wining and dining but it sounds as though Victoria is looking for teachers.

Cheers,

Is more mixed news, low wages and other half is a Primary Teacher. But will keep an eye out for changes in classification for Teachers to see if state sponsorship is an option during the next year, if not we're going to have to speak to my Uncle and get him to sponsor us

If you see your details in the Skills Matching Database, is that a good indication that your details have been encoded already and as such you should soon get a case officer?

Before you get a case officer, are all the background checks completed first?

I don't think there's a link to getting a CO when you're on the Database - my details were on there within 12 hours of submitting my application at the end of November & I suspect we're still a little way off getting a CO yet.

how about paper-based applicants? is it a good indication if your details are already in the database?

George is absolutely right about the database. Not the best way to find a sponsor. However - I will say this: If you needed to "freeze" your application (age for example) for up to 2 years then this is a way to do it. You are still able to search for State Sponsorship in the interim and of course should the point system change then you are except for theses changes. Since I was a few days off my 45th birthday and sponsorship not forthcoming this is the route I took. It so happened that I received State sponsorship 4 months after my 45th birthday and my application was then resurrected and received my visa 6 months later!

Good luck
