On-shore student: one Calender or Academic year ?
Hi,
Due to the recent increase of the pass mark (115), I think I'm not going to meet it
and I'm planing to do an MSc in Australia and then apply for PR under "On-shore
Student" category.
It starts in March, 2003 and continues for 2 semesters, ending in Nov or
December, 2003.
My question is, whether I can apply for PR as an "On-shore student" and gain "5"
points for "Australian Qualification" when I apply after receiving my transcript at
the end of the Second Semester (Dec, 2003) ?
Or, do I have to ne physically in Australia for 'one calender year' before applying
under "On-shore student" ?
Thanks a lot Ranga

I'm sorry, I tried several times, but the post didn't get through with Google.
Now it seems that they have actually gone through. Sorry for flooding

Hi Ranga,
Two consecutive traditional academic semesters are acknowledged as constituting a
"year" for the purposes of skilled migration eligibility. You will have no
difficulty.

Hi George,
Thank you very for your clarification. I hope the immigration laws won't change again
by the time I apply, possibly in late 2003.
Please accept my appologies for accidentally posting my msg three times. My browser
repeatedly gave an error message -- Now it seems that more than one posting had
gone through.
Regards Ranga.
