Re: Sept 07 - March 08 applicants check in thread
True, but I don't have my visa so I couldn't post on one called that. Over time, people will either disappear or graduate to the Barbie, so this thread will gradually fall out of use too. If it was just a 'got your visa' thread it would become a bit too big over time and get shut down. Nothing stopping anyone opening a 'Got your visa' thread though.

There are already a few threads like this in the Update forum. This where I put this, but they moved it for some reason??????

Actually, there was a typo in my post. I fly out in 17 days. Plenty of time before I start packing anything. Have you sold your house yet? Have you sold your house yet? Have you sold your house yet? Have you sold your house yet? Have you sold your house yet? Have you sold your house yet? Have you sold your house yet? Have you sold your house yet? Have you sold your house yet?

Its a gift from God Nicola. I dont need any lucky charms.
You'd better invest in some quickly then because Aussie women are fussy.

Re: Sept 07 - March 08 applicants check in thread
This is a great idea
was telling my friend about our validation trip to Christchurch and it as very eventful so thought I might post here it was so eventful
We had to leave Australia on the 11 of September as our ETA visa was up and we had spent the last two weeks adding our newborn daughter to our application very stressful but we did it
on the morning of our flight my DH rang our case officer to double check they had Eireann medical and passport details he didnt get through to our co but talked to a really nice girl who checked every thing and Eireann medical was not there so after a bit of checking she found it had been filed under another case file number so we were very lucky DH rang as we would have left and it wouldn't have been sorted
so off we went to the airport bit of trouble with Eireann passport and the fact she had no visa for a few minutes they weren't going to let us leave but they rang our case officer to make sure we were telling the truth , so finally we were able to go to the departures lounge and wait on our delayed flight
flight went well with all the kids and we got a taxi to our accommodation ripped off by the taxi he took us on a spin a round but we were just glad to be there and it was lovely spent a lovely day in Christchurch and got our grant email printed that off and relaxed for the rest of the day.
Next morning we were woke up with our eldest saying he didn't feel well pains in his tummy not good when we had an half an hour walk to the bus poor fellow, we stopped a BUS to double check we were going the right way and he said hop on and didn't charge us dropped us to the bus stop the bus came and the driver only charged for me and DH.
we get to the airport Adam still unwell i was hoping he would have asleep and wake up feeling better go to check in and girl is not nice at all.she was thinking of charging us for one of our bags made us check the size LOL it was fine coming over then she tell us we have to pay airport tax 25dollars for any one over 12 we were not to happy with that would have been nice to have know but there you are. so then we had to wait on till the departure gate to open so we had some lunch Adam fell asleep on the trolley on the bags we had brought our own sandwiches as christchurch airport is so expensive
so cutting the story shorter we had another good flight Adam sleeping most of it and waking up hungry and thirsty we land in Brisbane and head to immigration no problems coming through checked our passports and waved us on, then on to getting bags scanned one of our bags is taken a side and the guy says to us these are your cards we say yes these are your signatures we say yes did we understand the questions we says yes again I'm getting worried now. so then he asks have you any food in your bag we say no shouldn't be we eat our sandwiches, he says are you sure I look at Dh and we both say yes then he goes to open the bag stops and say are you very sure there is no food fruit like oranges in the bag as soon as he says oranges I nearly died and say oh bloody hell there is a bag of apples in the bag we forgot about the apples so very luckily he doesn't fine us as we told him before he opened the bag but he tells us for that many 1kilo we would have ended up in court he was very nice and knew it was a mistake and let us off with a caution and he also congratulated us on getting our visa which was nice
so you think that's the end eh we make our way to the van thinking thank god thats all over let just get the hell home and thank our lucky stars over the apples, Dh goes to start the van and what happens it is dead no life in the battery at all kids left a light on. so there we are baby crying the others lads moaning about being hungry and thirsty and will we have to sleep in the van and poor DH is running around the car park asking any one have they jump leads and luckily we found some one who helped us out a very nice guy.
so now we are getting every thing sorted tomorrow and hopefully our luck will change not looking so good so far went to take money out tonight and card not working but we will get that sorted tomorrow never a dull moment is all i can say LOL
sorry its so long

OMG Niamh!!! What a catalogue of accidents. Glad to hear you are all back in Aus safely and are now all PR visa holders!!!!!
We got stopped at Syney airport because DD had put half a packet of fruit gums in her bag without us knowing. I had carefully put all the food in a clear plastic bag and gave it to them as we went through customs. Then they started questioning us on what was in DDs bag and tipped it out on the table and found the fruit gums. You feel like a drug smuggler or something don't you?
I hope you can get the card sorted out. We have had endless problems in the Uk with banks as they are introducing this new online baking machine thingie and this seems to have been made compulsory but they haven't sent the machines out. Is this what's happened with you??????

Re: Sept 07 - March 08 applicants check in thread
You're not planning to get to the "life starts up again" phase for some weeks I hear!
That reminds me. Didn't we have a deal that you would pass your CO on to me after you'd received your VISA?
Seems like I kept my end of the bargain - VISA immediately following the Olympics - but you haven't passed on the CO.
Since you were sweet on her, maybe you could "pull some strings"?

Baby -
I have to laugh and cry with you because I know that much of what you're saying is just a function of traveling with 4 small children! Actually, I was waiting for you to say that your son started to VOMIT on the plane (or bus) and had to be taken to the ER! So fortunately that didn't happen!
I have 4 and I've traveled with them domestically alone and those kinds of stories are typical.
Now add in the fact that there's immigration rules to follow, a new country, on the move with no permanent place to live, etc and things can really get hairy!
Hang in there, keep the sense of humor, and it will get better!!

Re: Sept 07 - March 08 applicants check in thread
Visa granted 22nd August but house still not sold. Have booked validation trip for April 2009 in the hope that something may happen by then. If it hasn't sold by then it will be a return trip
Have booked flights out on 3rd April and return 25th April so really looking forward to having a good look around Adelaide. If Adelaide doesn't suit us then we will have time to take a look further afield.
For 8 of us to travel we have paid £7660 which I didn't think was too bad. Alot of money it needs to be done.
