School fees for partners child
 

Hi all,

I have been in Australia for 3.5 years now on the 489 visa which is valid for 4 years all up and expect my PR to come through imminently.

My partner is in Dubai with her 13 year old child and we're aiming to get married soon but I don't understand the education system here and its costs - from what I could find, primary & secondary education is free for Australians, so:

1. If we get married, how can she join me on my 489 visa or PR visa when it comes through?
2. Does her child get access to this government funded education or would we need to pay school fees?
3. How would her child be able to join us - as a dependent on the same visa application?
