Just wondering if you have lived in Oz for just 1 year and your 175 visa has expired and your employer wants to send you abroad on a project would you have to apply for an RRV or is there an employer's "temporary assignment" like visa. Are RRV's that difficult or is a tickbox? Thanks

It is a tick box if you meet the criteria, one of them is having spent 2 years in Australia. It is not unheard of for the people to get it without spending 2 years in though, you just have to prove you ties and I think it will help if your employer writes a letter of sorts, describing your need to travel.

I assume you mean the Australian employer wants to send the person outside Australia? (just asking as I know your status indicates you are in UK at moment).

Anyway assuming above, yes a RRV would definitely be required. It wouldn't be a tick box, however an Australian home, an Australian employer and evidence of a temporary assignment overseas would probably be sufficient. I have seen RRVs granted on far less anyway.

Having said that, I would also think hard about accepting a long term assignment overseas as most people want to get citizenship and working overseas is not conducive to getting that as soon as possible. We have decided that if any opportunity to work overseas came our way before we have citizenship we would decline it as citizenship is a priority.
