Default risk of cook going off modl list??

hi all
i have passed the tra with 60 points as a cook and have 15 extra points for the modl (cook went on the list in may 05), we also have family willing to sponser us in perth and our agent thinks that sponsered is our safer option.
we are hoping not to use the sponsership as other family members will need it more than us, so we have decided to go ahead skilled independant. has anyone any feelings about how the modl list works, is there a chance it could come off so soon after being applied? we hope not !
let us know what you think
cheers

Relying on MODL points is risky as if cook comes off the MODL before your application is assessed for points, you don't get the points.

The risk is less now than it used to be as MODL applications get priority. But occupations can come off MODL (and have done in the past) as easily as they go onto it.

Of course, if you didn't get the points there would be nothing stopping you applying sponsored assuming your sponsors/assurers were still eligible, you were still eligible, and you were willing to pay the application fee again.

If you are keen to settle in a participating state check to see if STNI is an option (avoid SIR unless you have literally no other options).
