Hi,

I have a friend who's a Retail Manager. Although the profession is listed on the Skillselect site (code 1421):

http://www.immi.gov.au/skills/skillselect/

with 13000 vacancies, it is not on the CSOL.

Can anyone explain this apparent discrepancy?

Don't think that's the case. The amount of vacancies (only comparable to nurses) indicates there's a big shortage. On the other hand, only 1 visa has been awarded.

The amount of vacancies does not indicate a shortage, it might just indicate that it is a high volume, Hugh turnover occupation. If you are concerned though, I guess you need to take it up with the minister for immigration, point out the error of their ways.
