Hi Nigel.
We're getting back acknowledgements (a letter showing the file number and case officer) from DIMIA about 3 weeks after the visa application was despatched to Adelaide from our office in Melbourne.
I'm fairly sure others will advise much longer though ...

Allan, Just a question: what is the date that DIMA shows in their letters? which is
the applying date? The date when DIMA receive the package or when the they write the
acknowledge letter? Thanks. Rafael.
