Reference for specific work experience

Hi All

My husband need to get a detailed reference for specific work
experience from a previous employer. He has the basic reference but
not the full details as per booklet 6. Could somebody confirm that the

information he needs from employer is as follows (as per booklet 6) and

if there is anything left out and or anything extra that should be
included, The list as follows

1. Reference on company letterhead with correct contact details i.e.
telephone, fax, e-mail and web

2. The name and position of employer clearly stated

3. Period of employment and if permanent , full time

4. 5 main duties. How detailed should this be. Would one or two
lines on each duty suffice

5. Salary stated

6. We do not have payslip. Would P60 suffice as it was previous
employer. We have several of these over the years.

Thanks again to all

Yes, yes, yes, yes - one or two lines on each duty, yes and yes P60 is excellent.

Depending what is missing from your basic reference would depend on whether the basic plus P60 would be good enough anyway.

Thanks Tony. I really appreciate you answering my questions. His
originally reference stated what he was employed as and covered the
main items he did but was very brief. It did not state the salary he
was on or that he was employed full-time and permanent.

Thanks again

Hi
I work for a large company and they only do basic references. They would only state how long i had worked for them , my job title and salary and the TRA excepted this.

Re: Reference for specific work experience

I am assuming tha the reference is for DIMIA and not TRA or some other assessing body.

If it is obvious from your P60 that you must be working full-time, then what you have might do it. So it depends how easy it is for you to get a second more detailed reference. It is best to comply as much as possible with the guidelines from the ASPC but you may prefer to try and get by with what you have and only approach the old employer for a more detailed reference if you really have to - so up to you really.

Would be better if it shows how many hours / week he worked for the company. Not sure but I think 38 hours per week is the DIMIA's standard to recognize it as a Full-Time employement.

Re: Reference for specific work experience

Thanks Tony. Our one is for DIMIA. Already submitted TRA. The old
employer has no problem with doing a new reference so I think why not
if it keeps DIMIA happy and covers what they request.

Thanks again
