Default recent/specific work experience

Hi all

DIMIA state that recent/specific work experience can be from any occupation listed on the SOL.

Is it acceptable for the periods of experience (12/18 months and 3/4 years) to be made up of experience from more than one occupation on the SOL?

E.g 2 years from one occupation and 1 year from another or 6 months from 1 occupation and 6 months from another.

Any help appreciated .

Thank you

Hey Omiagaj,

I think you can do that. That's what I'm planning to do anyway.
The requirement does say "working in any occupation on the SOL" so I guess it doesn't matter whether it is from a set of different occupation as long as those occupations are on the SOL.

I might be wrong though.......

Cheers,
yogi

Yes, it is any occupation from the SOL for recent work experience and specific work experience.

But it has to be exactly the requirement or more, if you're missing even a day you won't get the points.

In some circumstances the experience must be "closely related" to nominated occupation, if 10 points for work experience is needed.

Also - especially when experience is being claimed in a "different" SOL occupation, make sure it is really skilled and not in a related semi skilled or clerical occupation. Because DIMA *will* look at this (carefully).

Hey All,

I'm getting worried with my situation after reading JAJ information.
How do I know whether a job is skilled, related semi skilled or clerical?

I'm nominating myself as an Accountant and already have a positive skill assessment.
My current work experience to date is 10 months as an ERP Consultant handling COst Accounting module (Computer Professional - NEC).
Before this, I was off work for 3 months and right before that I have a 9 months work experience as an advertising Account Executive which I found also to be in the SOL (Advertising Specialist).
So from my understanding of the recent work experience requirement, I have fulfil 12 in the last 18 months working in any occupation on the SOL.

I was going to wait a couple of month until I have 12 months experience before I lodge my Application
but recently I've been thinking to lodge in ASAP just in case Accountant is off MODL soon or the new TR before PR issue come true.

After JAJ info I'm getting worried whether I'm actually eligible or not to lodge in application asap.
You guys reckon I'm eligible to lodge in ASAP or i better just wait for a few more months to get 12 months experience in my current job?

Thank you JAJ

DO you know whether the closely related rule applies to the recent work experience requirement i.e the 12/18 months for skillled assessment. Also, can it be combined say- 15 hrs one occup. and 5 hrs a different occup (both on the SOL).

Thank a lot.
