Default Recent and relevant work experience

Hi. How does DIAC assess 'recent and relevant work experience' for the 10 points that are available? I have a degree in Aeronautical Engineering (along with 7yrs experience), followed by 7 yrs experience as a Mechanical Engineer. Engineers Australia cannot give me any definition on how these points are awarded, however, without them I will only gain 115 points (annoying as Mechanical Engineering is on the CSL and Engineers Australia are quite pedantic in following your qualification precisely). I'm aware I can go through the CDR process, though this may be pointless if my experience is rightly considered recent and relevant, and also as it appears the CSL will be phased out mid-process anyway. Thanks for any advice.

I suppose, if your skill set is on MODL and your assessing authority has awarded you MODL, then You get 10 points for the Recent and relevant work exp... This is the procedure in the Information Tech assessing authority(ACS)..I hope its the same with all other assessing authorities...
You need to submit all your recent work ref letters, appraisal Letters, pay slips etc to prove the same.

That's the issue. Engineers Australia will only assess me as an Aeronautical Engineer. They do not appear to get involved in assessment of recent and relevant work experience (which for me is as a mechanical Engineer). Annoyingly, both occupations are on the MODL and Mechancial Engineering is on the CSL!!

Correction - Mechanical Engineering is on the MODL, though Aeronautical isn't - so I wouldn't get the 10 points if assessed as an Aeronautical Engineer if this is strictly followed, however.......

For the 10 points - you have to work in your nominated occupation or one that is closely related. Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering are closely related, though as Engineers Australia don't get involved in this part of the process - who says and how do you verify it??

Generally this happens in ACS assessment.
For example,If an applicant is awarded as (SAP specialist-code), means that ACS has awarded with MODL and applicant gets 10 points.
If otherwise, ACS has awarded just (SAP Specialist) with out the code , then No MODL and recent work exp points...

Did you check the same with Engineers Australia...They should also have some arrangement like this...

I don't fully understand the complexities of SAP Specialist Code and SAP Specialist so I can't draw similarities. I guess I'll need to work this through with Engineers Australia, but it's a frighteningly rigid, yet ambiguous process.

No worries...
lemme put it in simple words...SAP is an IT tech which is on MODL . Code is the ASCO code which you are aware of.. I was just generalizing it...

I have no clue about how Eng Aus award assessment.. May be you can check with their web site..
Or wait for some one with similar exp to answer this quest...

Good Luck...
