Questions about the 400 visa
Hello, hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. I posted a few months ago because I’d been living and working in Sydney on the 451 visa, but had to cut it short due to family illness. I’m really hoping to find another way to work in Aus again and had some questions about the Subclass 400 Temporary Work (Short Stay Specialist) visa which I'm hoping you guys can help with.
FYI, I work in advertising as an Account/Campaign Director - my job isn’t on either the STSOL or MLTSSL list, so I believe the 400 is my only option.

- Do you need the backing of a company to get the 400 visa?
- Is it possible to stay on for another month or two on a tourist visa when the 400 finishes?
- Even though my job isn’t on the STSOL or MLTSSL, when I was in Sydney I got asked a few times whether I’d consider sponsorship. Does anyone know why that is? Are the rules around sponsorship different if you’re already in the country?

Work documents
You should provide a letter of invitation, job offer, employment contract or other document from an Australian organisation confirming they have employed you to work in Australia showing:
details of your position, duties, or project of work you will undertake
the duration of your work
the reason why you are required to work in Australia
support for your visa application
your employment conditions and wages
the Australian workplace standards or Industry Award that applies to your position

If they have never sponsored before they have almost certainly not read any of the requirements either for you or for themselves as the employer. They may not even be aware that there are lists of skills applicable to different visas. The lists are the same whether you are onshore or offshore and you would need to look at this with the employer - and I suggest that they also work with a registered agent.
