Default Question For You

Could someone clear this up for me, I have been doing hairdressing for 23 years but have a gap to have the kids, I am currently working on the required 12/18 RWE, Can I apply for my TRA now or do I have to wait till I have completed my 12months Recent work experience?
Thanks

Pretty sure you can do TRA now - it's only for the actual visa application that you need the work experience.

Think we also need Cath to come in - she has done her skills assessment but can't apply for her visa until June when her 12 months work experience is up...

My friend is just returning to hairdressing after 5 years. her agent advised her to apply after 6 months experience. The reason being that not only is hairdressing on the modl list at 60 points, it is also on a higher list (apparently extra 15 points) and as long as she completes a year before entering she will be accepted.

There may be someone on later who can give you more details on it but I hope this helps.

Good luck

Fiona

Me again!!!! We were vetassess - not TRA but skills assessments are on qualifications not recent work experience so I'm pretty sure you okay to do TRA now. Have you phoned an agent for free advise - they will give a free assessment (most agents). PM me if you want my agents details.

Thanks Lou for your replies, will give some agents a call and see if I can get an answer. I suppose I could always email TRA, not sure if they answer or not?
Thanks again

Hi Everyone,

None of the skills assessing agencies require recent work experience, that's only for DIMA. There are various permutations depending on what visa you're applying for, but generally it's a period between 6 months and 24 months of recent employment that DIMA needs. So in this case the OP can certainly apply to TRA now.

Cheers,

George Lombard

Hi George
i know its not applicable to christina225 question but if someone else was to read your post quoting that "None of the skills assessing agencies require recent work experience," it would be misleading as the Australian Computer Society does require recent work experience for a positive skills assessment.
minimum of four (4) or six (6) years full-time equivalent are recommended

Hope you dont mind me pointing that out

Work experience to meet the ACS requirements doesn't have to be *recent* however if it was a long time ago then proving it will be hassle.
